Educated at St Anselm’s college, Ronald Eyre spent four enjoyable years at the Laird school of art.
Ronald Eyre: “Specialized in fine art under Charles Oliver. Tried a vocation in a religious order for three years, then took a teaching post at SFX secondary modern school in Shaw street, Liverpool, where they had no art teacher. I built up an art department from scratch providing drawing, painting, ceramics, balsa wood construction, and bookbinding and others. After teaching all boys for 23 years I finished up with all girls at Saint Julies high school in Woolton (Used to be Notre Dame high school) in charge of the pottery and ceramics dept.
I took early retirement after thirty years teaching. Have been misspending subsequent years model boat building – and sailing, gardening folk singing, playing various musical instruments – or trying to – morris dancing, taking flying lessons and developing my own website; – and – Oh yes! – some drawing and painting now and then!”
