Artist’s statement

This piece is called “The Mad Ship”.

Graduating in textile design from Brighton University, Lou took up paining part-time from her studio on the Wirral 3 years ago. Originally, she painted textural, multilayered landscapes, beachscapes, florals in oil and acrylic etc. but now her most recent work, a project that began this year, reflects more of her personal interests – in the suspension of disbelief. Lou reads a lot of books which have roots in myth, legend and folklore and you will see the overlap of this ‘fantasy’ genre in her art.

Lou has had work exhibited in galleries in the Wirral, Chester and Liverpool.
