Artist’s satement

Although Art is now a diverse multi-layered multi-media business, at its core is still the story. That’s what I’m after in my work – I’m a storyteller.
Plus, of course, a sprinkling of symbolism in a well rounded composition. I’ve also been able to draw on my experience as an author and so my images are mainly developments of scenes and characters from my own novels. Nods to other influences: I became enthralled by the work of Studio Ghibli, which by way of the ‘Symbolists’ led into the joint work of Bruegel and Rubens. Then, oddly, onto British travel posters. Also intrigued by the art of Hapshash and the Coloured Coat and the 1960’s Art Nouveaux revival.
