Artist’s Statement

James received formal training at Wallasey School of Art and went on during his career as a Merchant Navy Officer to develop the detail and accuracy that marine subjects require.

He has painted mainly marine subjects for private commission and over recent years has progressed his painting into other mediums and subjects, enjoying coastal seascapes, mainly in Western Cornwall, Still Life and Portraiture.

James is a member of the Liver Sketching Club Liverpool and over the years has exhibited at Boydell’s Gallery Liverpool, The Artist Club and the Williamson Art Gallery.
