Artist’s Statement

I have worked in Engineering all my life and have come to painting artwork through a hobby I’ve had for 30 years, I have painted German flat figures, known as Zinnfiguren, which are cast in tin and engraved on both sides and are about 1mm thick and vary in scale from 25mm to 100mm high.

About 6 years ago I decided to try watercolour painting and through a friend I was introduced to a local artist who encouraged me to use oils as my medium, by chance this is the medium which I had used on my flats so I’d gained a lot of knowledge of how to use them.

My aim with my work is to create as near as possible to photographic quality.
