Artist’s Statement

I graduated as a mature student in 2014 with a degree in Fine Art from Wirral Metropolitan College, followed by a year’s Fellowship. Since then I have exhibited in a number of galleries and I participate in Wirral Open Studios.

Much of my work is multilayered and combines elements which can include photography, print (particularly monoprint and collagraph), collage, drawing and paint. This piece (Promenade 1) has a collage base and is then built up with layers of acrylic paint and drawing with oil pastel.

My subject matter is often landscape based and I enjoy the challenge of trying to capture fleeting moments generated by ever changing conditions of light and other elements. As a result my pieces often tread the line somewhere between abstraction and reality.
